Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed to a proposal from the United States for a humanitarian ceasefire, they said on Thursday in a statement.

The RSF's agreement to the proposal comes more than a week after the group seized El Fasher city, which has been under siege for more than 18 months. It was also the last Sudanese military stronghold in the western Darfur region.
