LILBURN, Ga. — When Donald Zachary first came home from 22 years of distinguished service in the military, he felt like no one was on his side.
“I didn't know I was broken, and that's the part that really hurt. I didn't know I was broken,” he said, holding back tears.
Zachary was suffering from PTSD, anxiety, and depression. He felt utterly alone.
“I was walking around with glass gloves touching people and wondering, why are they bleeding? My words were cutting people, and my actions were causing them to distance themselves from me,” he said.
Until he found solace in a new four-legged friend.
