( WANF /Gray News) - Americans traveling through some of the U.S.’s busiest airports can expect fewer flights as the country’s longest government shutdown continues into its second month.

The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to officially announce the 40 “high-volume markets” where it is reducing flights by 10 percent before the cuts go into effect Friday. According to the Associated Press, the FAA said the move is to keep airspace safe during the shutdown.

Sources provided WANF with an internal memo that included the full list of airports. Among the airports on the list were Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International, Dallas/Fort Worth International, New York LaGuardia and Chicago O’Hare International.
