GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County's Christmas tree is standing tall, after all.
The tree snapped near its top while it was being lifted during installation on Tuesday, but the county said Thursday the tree is okay.
A county spokesperson told 11Alive they were able to cut off the top two feet of the tree and basically spruce the rest of it up, and the tree was stood up as planned.
That made it a 38-foot tree instead of a 40-foot tree, but the county added that usually there's two feet cut from the bottom when the tree is getting positioned anyway, so there wasn't a significant disruption there.
The two feet lopped off the top of the tree were also taken and put up as a little "baby tree" next to the Santa installation/decorations.
