The $6.6 million home of a top NBA coach was heavily damaged in a massive fire, officials said.
According to ESPN , the Miami-Dade County Fire Department responded to the home of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra around 4:36 a.m. on Thursday.
No injuries were reported and Spoelstra, who was with his team in Denver on Wednesday night, did not land in South Florida until 5:11 a.m., according to ESPN.
Photos and video on social media showed smoke rising over parts of the property as Spoelstra watched helplessly nearby.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Victoria Byrd told the Associated Press that the fire was “as tall as the trees,” adding that a privacy fence and tree cover impeded initial firefighting efforts.
