NEW YORK (PIX11) – SNAP recipients living in New York can get double the fruits and vegetables at grocery stores and farmers' markets that are part of the Double Up Food Bucks NY program.

Double Up matches fruit and vegetable purchases dollar for dollar, according to the program’s website. Those who are already enrolled in SNAP don’t need to do anything to qualify.

These are the food items that can be bought through Double Up: • Raw, whole fruits and vegetables • Produce-bearing plants • Minimally cut fruit and vegetables with no additives

The program matches up to $20 a day. SNAP recipients at grocery stores can buy their fruits and vegetables and get Double Up Food Bucks, which can be used for produce purchased the next time they shop.
