The more than 140,000 Rhode Islanders who receive SNAP benefits are still waiting for clarification on what their partial payment for November will be while the Trump administration readies to argue in federal court this afternoon against an emergency motion to restore full funding to the program immediately.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge John J. McConnell Jr . will hear arguments in U.S. District Court in Rhode Island from both sides in a lawsuit to keep benefits flowing to low-income families in the state and across the country. The hearing will be at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, and McConnell is expected to make a ruling on the motion soon after, though the federal government is expected to appeal.
