CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) - The State of West Virginia has now released more than $11 million to food banks to help them provide assistance to those in need amid the SNAP benefits pause.

Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Wednesday that another $2.5 million released Thursday brings the overall total to $11.1 million. The governor says he has authorized the State to release up to $14.1 million, meaning the State has $3 million additional dollars it can release should the SNAP pause and government shutdown continue for a longer period of time.
