NIXA, Mo. (KY3) - Volunteers in Medicine Christian County has been traveling throughout the area for years, providing uninsured residents of the county with free medical care. Now, it has a permanent location.
It began serving patients in 2022, and its leaders always wanted to add a permanent location, but it wasn’t feasible until this year.
The organization serves people ages 18 to 64 who are uninsured and below 200% of the federal poverty level, providing medical services similar to those of any doctor’s office.
Having a permanent location on top of its mobile clinic means more patients can be helped, thanks to the scale and time it saves volunteers.
“What a blessing to be able to have a space where, even though it’s tiny,” said Rachelene Middleton, a board member and volunteer phy
