CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Clinton area will be without a longstanding community partner after the local Crime Stoppers organization was disbanded after 40 years of service.
In a post on Facebook, the Clinton Police Department said the members of Clinton Crime Stoppers unanimously voted to disband the organization during its Wednesday night meeting. Officials blamed reduced funding from the court system, increasing operational costs that have outpaced revenue, and a gradual decline in public use of the program in recent years as reasons for disbanding Crime Stoppers.
