ILLINOIS (WCIA) -- A new ranking has Illinois near the top of the list for human trafficking survivor laws.
The state is ranked number two and has improved from an "F" rating to an "A," because of work from all levels across the state.
A lot changed this past August. The Trauma-Informed Response to Human Trafficking Act was passed, and Illinois State Police started a new task force.
The Illinois Trafficking Enforcement Group, or ITEG, is working in alignment with the new law, which is survivor-focused. Like the law states, it prioritizes trauma informed response, a framework for helping victims.
