SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Sioux Falls Police announced a new fraud campaign to help make the public aware of fraud involving cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin.

Sgt. Jake Harris with the Sioux Falls Police Property Crimes Fraud Division spoke about the police department collaborating with local businesses that have crypto ATMs to post signs regarding the rise of cryptocurrency scams.

These warning signs have been posted near 20 ATMs around Sioux Falls.

Harris said the number of scams locally has increased. In these scenarios, Harris said it's often elderly people who show up with cash in their hands at the ATMS.
