Four women from Texas were killed and a truck driver was injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 87, about 10 miles south of Dalhart, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. Nov. 5 when a southbound 2020 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a semi-trailer struck the rear of a 2020 Nissan Altima that was also heading south but moving slowly because of a flat tire, DPS officials said.
The driver of the Nissan, Myunique Johnson, 20, of Stratford, and three passengers — Lakeisha Brown, 18, of Galveston; Breanna Brantley, 31, of Rosharon; and Taylor White, 28, of Missouri City — were all pronounced dead at the scene. All four were wearing seat belts.
