The Red Sox announced their spring training schedule for next season Wednesday — and it includes a couple special events that will break up the monotony of Grapefruit League play.
Boston will host Team Puerto Rico for an exhibition game ahead of the World Baseball Classic on March 3 at JetBlue Park, marking the second time that has happened in the past four years. Manager Alex Cora has close ties to that team, being the general manager for the 2017 World Baseball Classic before taking over as Boston’s manager. His brother, Joey, will be Puerto Rico’s third base coach next spring.
For the second straight year, Red Sox top prospects will participate in a “Spring Breakout” game , this time against Orioles minor leaguers in Sarasota on March 20. The Sox will also host a “Futures at Fen
