Anxious and confused. That’s what CityNews is hearing from some local builders following a string of arsons in Edmonton.

Some say they are being vigilant and upping security in neighbourhoods like Belgravia, where police suspect homes under construction have been intentionally set ablaze.

In less than three weeks, six properties in central Edmonton have been set on fire, and most have been multi-unit homes.

Police say a suspected arsonist or arsonists are still on the loose.

“It is very scary right now. I can’t sleep at night, to be honest with you,” said Sanaz Hamidi, the owner of Ruby Stone Holding.

Edmonton homebuilders like Hamidi are on edge. She’s doing what she can to keep her property in Belgravia secure.
