KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City's newest live music destination just got a new name -- paying homage to a world-famous company headquartered in the metro.

The Riverside Amphitheater, which began construction last year, will now be known as the MORTON Amphitheater, according to Live Nation Entertainment.

The name comes after the locally-based company, The Morton Salt Group, which recently made its move to Overland Park, Kansas.

The venue is expected to host more than 30 concerts each season, welcoming half a million fans annually and delivering about $70 million in economic funds to the region.

According to Live Nation, the venue itself will serve as a "new home for live music in the Midwest" and will "anchor Kansas City's growing entertainment district." • A sneak peek of the new MORT
