Are you feeling festive already? If so, would you consider putting your Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving?

Well, Better Homes and Gardens editor Emily Williams says that is exactly what you should do.

She wrote, "Putting your tree up before the turkey goes in the oven doesn't have to overshadow the Thanksgiving holiday."

Williams says it adds a nostalgic, cozy feel, which perfectly complements a house full of turkey day guests.

She also said waiting to put the tree up means less cheer.

Doing it early can make the whole month of November feel more festive around the house.

But if you're not quite ready to go full Christmas, you can tone down the tree.

Williams' rule is that the tree lights go up before Thanksgiving, but they don't hang the ornaments until closer to Christmas.
