GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) -- With the temperatures starting to drop, a warm meal is something so many families look forward to. One Gibson City restaurant is making that possible in the midst of the ongoing government shutdown.
The co-owner of Horsch Radish said that people in the community have been talking about ways to help people who lost SNAP benefits. So, she decided to make a homemade hearty meal and give it to people free of charge.
"Here at the restaurant, one of the things we can do is make homemade soup, and especially chicken noodle soup has everything you need -- the chicken, the noodles, and we're adding vegetables, so it's complete.," said co-owner Barb Horsch. "If we can help serve the community, we want to do that."
