PHOENIX — Laura Owens has been indicted on felony charges related to a false claim of pregnancy involving a second victim.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced the news Thursday. According to Mitchell, the victim began dating Owens in 2021 but ended the relationship after three dates.

Officials said Owens then claimed to be pregnant by the victim. MCAO investigators later discovered evidence that she had falsified documents that allegedly supported her claim about the pregnancy.

Owens was indicted on several felony charges earlier this week:

One count of Perjury, a Class Four Felony

One count of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, A Class Two Felony

Two counts of Taking the Identity of Another, a Class Four Felony

Two counts of Forgery, a Class Four Felony
