ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — As the ongoing government shutdown leaves many unsure where their next meal will come from, a parish in the Southern Tier is proving that compassion doesn’t close.

Happening Saturday, Nov. 8, the Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus announced it will hold a free community spaghetti supper. The event is scheduled to take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Those who attend can enjoy their spaghetti dinner inside the St. Mary’s Church gym, located at the corner of Franklin Street and Fulton Street.

The Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus emphasized that anyone who may need a free hot meal is welcome at the community supper.
