WEST VALLEY, Utah (ABC4) — The second victim in the West Valley shooting on Oct. 31 has been identified by family as Fatima Al-Rekabi.
Fatima's sister-in-law, Destiny Al-Rekabi, confirmed the identity with ABC4 on Thursday morning.
Early reports shared that Fatima was 15 years old. However, on Wednesday evening, the West Valley City Police confirmed that she was 17 years old.
Two deaths at Halloween party
Just before midnight on Halloween, West Valley officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 2600 West 4000 South. According to police, a fight broke out at a Halloween party and spilled into the street.
During the incident, a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed. Fatima was injured and left in critical condition after the shooting. She later succumbed to her injuries.
