MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- As the government shutdown rolls on, support from the community continues to roll in. Thursday morning, hundreds of families walked away with boxes of supplies.

One by one, vehicles were stuffed with boxes filled with food and essential items.

"I think it's a great thing, especially during this time, holiday season, the struggles we're all going through struggles," said Lisa Conrad, recipient.

Hundreds of people lined up in their cars outside STREETS Ministries in the Alcy Ball neighborhood for a resource rally hosted by Feed the Children, FedEx, and The Women's Foundation of Greater Memphis.

This event comes as the government shutdown leaves thousands of families in the Memphis area experiencing food insecurity.
