Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 24, the team announced.

The team shared its condolences, stating, “It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization.”

According to the Frisco Police Department, Kneeland appeared to have taken his own life. His body was located in the early hours of Thursday morning following a late-night vehicle pursuit and crash on Wednesday. The official cause and manner of death are pending determination by the Collin County medical examiner’s office.
