A mix of townhomes and apartments will be developed on the former Harrow high school property, the Town of Essex announced Thursday.

The property at 45 Wellington Street will be redeveloped into as many as 160 units spearheaded by Horizon Investment Holdings, after an request for proposals process.

The development will be a mix of units for rental and purchase. The town describes the proposal as “vibrant, high-density residential community.”

“This is a major milestone for the Harrow community,” said Mayor Sherry Bondy.

“The redevelopment of the former high school property is not only about new housing, it’s about creating a thriving, inclusive space that reflects the future we envision for our town."
