JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - A judge sentenced a Janesville man to 16 years in prison on Tuesday after he was convicted in a drunk driving crash that killed two people in Rock County.
The Rock County District Attorney’s Office said Koty Diaz’s 16-year sentence will be followed by 10 years of extended supervision.
The agency recounted how Diaz, 33, was driving home from a local tavern on Aug. 17, 2024, in Janesville when he drove through grass, over a curb and onto Beloit Avenue.
Authorities said Diaz was speeding, did not stop at a red light and collided with a Pontiac G6 on Delavan Drive. Both vehicles crashed into a field.
Officials stated the driver of the vehicle hit and the driver’s fiancée both died in the crash. The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified them as
