CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Assistant Cincinnati Fire Chief Sherman Smith has been fired for helping former fire chief Michael Washington in a lawsuit, sources confirm to FOX19 NOW.

Smith, a 31-year veteran member of the Cincinnati Fire Department, was put on paid administrative leave on July 2 pending the outcome of the probe, Joe Elliot, president of Cincinnati Fire Fighters, previously said.
