SHREVEPORT, La. - A new national study shows young adults are attending church more frequently than any other age group — an unexpected post-pandemic shift that researchers are calling “historic” and a “generational reversal.”

According to new data from the Barna Group and Gloo, churchgoers ages 18 to 28 now attend an average of 23 services a year, outpacing older generations. Gen X averages about 19 services, while Baby Boomers attend just under 17.

Local churches say they’re seeing the trend firsthand. At First Baptist Shreveport, an influx of young adults prompted church leaders to launch a Sunday School class specifically for that age group this fall.
