WASHINGTON – November's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be distributed at 65 percent of their normal rate, according to an official from the Agriculture Department. This adjustment comes after a federal court order mandated the use of contingency funds to allocate portions of the monthly benefits.

The administration initially suggested that SNAP benefits could be reduced to 50 percent, but the revised figure allows families in the lower 48 states to receive about $646. This change aims to provide more support to beneficiaries as directed by the court.
