COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) -- SNAP benefits won't be available for Ohioans this week, according to new federal guidance on the benefits' partial funding amid the federal government shutdown, now in its second month.
But the most needy Ohioans already enrolled in a state assistance program can expect a boost later this week, according to a Thursday news release from the governor's office.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued the new guidance on the issuance of partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits earlier this week. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services then told Gov. Mike DeWine that without an immediate end to the government shutdown, the benefits won't be available this week, according to the releas
