This week’s federal budget was made for Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District, said MP Terry Sheehan.

The Sault Ste. Marie-Algoma MP said the Liberal government budget “delivers on our promise to build infrastructure and to provide the tools to be our own best customer.”

Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne unveiled the government’s first budget this week, projecting a $78 billion deficit designed to spark investment and alter Canada’s economy amid a global tariff war.

Sheehan said he thanked Prime Minister Mark Carney for ensuring the budget protects Northern Ontario and its important industries like steel, aluminum, lumber and critical minerals.
