A Maywood man has been charged on accusations that he physically assaulted a child over the weekend, authorities said.
William B. MacGray, 45, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 4, following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and Maywood Police Chief Terence Kenny said.
Maywood police were notified by St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, of a pediatric patient who was injured as a result of child abuse by MacGray, according to the criminal complaint obtained by Daily Voice.
Photographs of the victim's injuries showed visible signs of injury to the buttocks and thighs after MacGray struck the child on Sunday, Nov. 2, the complaint says.
The child suffered extensive bruising, åccording to the complaint.
MacGray was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child (N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2)) and third-degree aggravated assault (N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(7)), Musella said.
He was taken into custody on Tuesday, Nov. 4, and later made his first court appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, where he was ordered released pending further court action, according to the prosecutor.
