Friday starts relatively quiet, but things change as a new system moves in from the Great Lakes! This puts us in a mild but gusty southwest wind flow so that temperatures will climb into the low to mid-50s. By late morning and afternoon, winds could pick up again, especially on higher hills, where gusts may reach around 40 mph depending on how the atmosphere mixes. Showers are expected to develop later in the day and continue into Friday night. As cooler air moves in behind the system, some light lake-effect showers are possible north of the Southern Tier, with overnight lows dropping into the 40s.

On Saturday, a few lingering lake-effect showers may hang on early, but they should fade as a weak ridge of high pressure builds overhead. Temperatures will still be on the mild side, generally
