Like any home, after a certain length of time, a kitchen renovation is in order.

Such was the case for the Mitchell branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, which started last year to plan to remodel its 30-year-old kitchen. The service club will proudly unveil the renovations — well under budget, legion officials might add — on Saturday, Nov. 15 with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“I had a mental image of what you want it to look like, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the way it turned out,” said Jamie O’Donnell, the chair of the renovation committee.

O’Donnell was quick to thank the efforts of many volunteers who managed to keep the renovation costs low, but especially the local contractors they used along the way.
