CLEVELAND — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will begin reducing flights at some of the nation’s busiest airports this Friday, cutting air traffic by about 10%.
The decision comes as the government shutdown stretches into its 37th day, with staffing shortages and safety concerns driving the move.
The reduction will affect 40 major airports nationwide, although Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is not currently on the FAA’s preliminary list.
A spokesperson for the airport shared the following statement with 3News:
“While CLE is not currently included on the FAA’s preliminary list of airports to be impacted by air traffic capacity reductions, airline schedules elsewhere may still affect flights here. We strongly encourage all travelers to remain diligent by checking
