Humans are the best of animals and the worst of animals.

Humans are capable of compassion not seen in other animals and never will be. How many times have you seen on the news or in a documentary people risking their lives trying to save a complete stranger?

In organizations such as firefighters, rescue squads, and police, it is expected they be willing to risk their lives, if need be, to help save others. But, ordinary people will do the same without it being part of their job description.

Do you see other animals doing such a thing? No. In the case of chimpanzees, our closest relative and second-smartest being, you may see a mother chimp and others of their troop risk themselves for a baby but not others.
