RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond is opening up the Salvation Army Inclement Weather Shelter early beginning Thursday evening.

The shelter at 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue, will function as an overnight shelter beginning Thursday, Nov. 6 to help residents stay safe and warm during periods of extremely cold temperatures.

The shelter normally opens from Nov. 15 to April 15, but is being implemented in response to forecasted low overnight temperatures this weekend and upcoming week.

The Inclement Weather Shelter will open for the winter season on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.

This week shelter will be open:

Thursday, Nov. 6 to Friday, Nov. 7: 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Monday, Nov. 10 to Tuesday, Nov. 11: 5 p.m. to 11 a.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 11 to Wednesday, Nov. 12: 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
