TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAW)— Union Health added a new member to its staff who took an unusual route to becoming the board-certified neurologist he is today.

Chad Meshberger, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, grew up in Lafayette, Indiana. After high school, Meshberger joined the United States Air Force, serving on the Pararescue Combat Search and Rescue Team, where he first encountered working in medicine.

A news release from Union Health states that Meshberger completed his enlistment with the goal of being a physician after being given a newfound purpose from his work. Meshburger completed his medical degree at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Meshberger came back to the Hoosier state to complete his residency and fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine
