WEST ALABAMA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The arrest of a sexual predator suspect in west Alabama gave a district attorney an idea; formalize a major crimes unit with the goal of quicker arrests and faster resolutions.

That’s what District Attorney (DA) Rachel England has done for the three counties she serves.

Law enforcement agencies from Marengo, Greene and Sumter counties will help one another to solve a major crime. The more eyes and ears on the case, the quicker an arrest can be made.

“We don’t have as much funding and we don’t have access to the same resources,” said England.

Without the funding and the adequate resources, England says it just made sense to cobble together a major crimes unit, one that consists of about 25 investigators from law enforcement agencies.
