The State Senate Thursday quickly passed legislation during a special session to assist New Castle County in getting out accurate tax bills, as litigation continues to hold up the process.

State Senator Jack Walsh, D-Stanton, is prime sponsor of Senate Bill 206 , which was just introduced two days earlier. It would extend the current deadline of November 30th for payments to be made until the end of the year.

Walsh added that there have been discussions with local school districts.

"In those conversations, we are confident that the state's ability to float Division 1 funds to districts and support payroll will allow districts to endure a delay in local funding coming in," Walsh said.
