SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- A Springfield woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.

Troopers with the Illinois State Police responded to I-55 southbound near milepost 88 in Springfield just after 12 p.m. for a deadly crash. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said the 63-year-old driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The right lane was closed and later reopened around 2:00 p.m.

Allmon said an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday. He added that the identity of the woman is being held until her family has been notified. The Illinois State Police and the Sangamon County Coroner are investigating.

State Police added that this is an active investigation, and there is no further information at this time.
