CANTON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday that Art Rooney Jr. is a semifinalist for the Class of 2026 in the Contributor category.
Rooney was the team's personnel director from 1965 to 1986 and is a member of the Steelers Ring of Honor.
He worked in a Steelers scouting department that drafted 10 future Hall of Famers from 1969 to 1974. It is a period of time that saw Pittsburgh win four Super Bowl championships during the 1970s.
A committee will discuss the nine semifinalists on Nov. 12 to select one finalist for the full Selection Committee to consider for possible election with the new class of enshrinees.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026 will be announced at NFL Honors in San Francisco in February and enshrined in August in Canton.
