CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - As the federal government shutdown stretches into its second month, Cape Girardeau Regional Airport managers are keeping a close eye on developments that could impact Heartland travelers.
The Federal Aviation Administration recently announced a 10% reduction in flights across 40 of the nation’s busiest airports — including Chicago O’Hare, which is a major hub for Cape Girardeau connections.
“I’m not anticipating anything significant for us, but I mean, time will tell. We’ll see,” says Jojo Stuart, manager of Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.
Stuart says local operations are holding steady for now, thanks in part to the airport’s unique staffing structure.
