CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) — Two Scott County brothers discovered part of a human skull while fishing at the SEMO port in mid-September, leading to an ongoing investigation to determine the remains’ age and origin.
The brothers, who asked not to be identified, were setting up their fishing equipment when one noticed something unusual in the rocks along the Mississippi River bank.
“I cast my pole out and went to stick it in the rocks up here and when I was sticking it in there, I seen something round,” one brother said. “I thought it was a really round rock, which is weird because down here all the rocks are jagged. I was like, ‘that looks like a skull.’”
