TOLEDO, Ohio — It’s a heavyweight showdown at the Toledo Zoo — and this one’s all in good fun.
If you’ve ever wondered who weighs more — a growing elephant calf or a Kodiak bear bulking up for winter — the Toledo Zoo has you covered.
Their “Junk vs. Trunk” video series has become a weekly hit, comparing how much weight a 10-year-old Kodiak bear is packing on for winter to how fast a one-year-old elephant calf is growing.
In the most recent #WeighOffWednesday, Dodge the bear checked in at 1,236 pounds, just a few pounds shy of Kirkja the elephant calf at 1,240 pounds.
So far, Kirkja has won three of the four weigh-ins. Dodge’s lone victory came in Week 3 — by just two pounds.
