KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The City of Kansas City, Missouri has settled with former City Manager Brian Platt on a severance agreement to avoid a lawsuit following his suspension and eventual termination earlier this year, FOX4 learned Thursday.

The city did not say the amount of the settlement but did confirm with FOX4 "the dispute has been resolved and the City wishes Platt the best in his future endeavors."

The city council voted to remove Platt from the city manager position back in March after he was suspended following a lawsuit filed by its former communications director.

Former Kansas City communications director Chris Hernandez sued the city, claiming Platt instructed him and other staff members to lie to the media.
