NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Country music singer Carly Pearce is opening up about her health.

Pearce is battling a condition called recurrent pericarditis, also known as RP. The condition is an inflammation of the pericardium, which is a sack-like membrane with two thin layers of tissue surrounding the heart.

According to the American Heart Association, when the inflammation returns, it’s called a “flare.” It can cause sharp chest pain and, in some cases, can lead to fluid buildup around the heart.

Pearce says since going public with her diagnosis, she’s heard from many fans who are dealing with the same thing.
