Joe Sanchez announced today that he has filed to run for the vacant Miami-Dade County Commission District 5 seat, which includes the southern portion of Miami Beach and parts of the City of Miami, including Downtown, Little Havana, and sections of Brickell.
Sanchez, a lifelong resident of District 5, brings more than three decades of public service and law enforcement experience to the race. During last year’s Miami-Dade Sheriff’s primary, Sanchez earned the majority of votes in the precincts that make up District 5 — demonstrating broad local support and deep community roots.
