A police officer shot and killed a dog after it chomped on the cop’s leg this morning in Queens, authorities said.
The cop was responding to a call about unleashed dogs chasing residents near 114th Rd. and 155th St. in Cambria Heights just before 8 a.m. The officer was trying to corral two unleashed dogs when a third canine snuck up from behind and bit the cop in the leg, prompting the officer to shoot it, according to police.
The police officer was taken in stable condition to Jamaica Hospital and is expected to recover.
The dog died at the scene.
It wasn’t immediately clear what breed the dogs were, what the officer’s gender is or how many shots were fired.
