(KRON) -- IBM laid off dozens of Bay Area employees on Wednesday. According to a filing with the Employment Development Department, the tech giant cut 75 jobs at its office on Bailey Avenue in San Jose.

The job cuts were announced on Tuesday and are permanent, filings indicate.

The Bay Area job cuts come amid reports that IBM plans to cut thousands of jobs this quarter.

"In the fourth quarter we are executing an action that will impact a low single-digit percentage of our global workforce," an IBM spokesperson told CNBC. "While this may impact some U.S.-based roles, we anticipate that our U.S. employment will remain flat year over year."
