(KRON) — A roaming wolf recently wandered into the outskirts of a populated California farming town between Porterville and Bakersfield, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s "Wolf Tracker” map shows.

According to the state wolf tracker — which uses GPS collars to track the location of California’s gray wolves — wolf BEY03F moved into the area of Tulare County as recently as Monday. On Monday, the wolf was tracked north of Highway 155 and east of Highway 65, roughly 10 miles east of Delano.

The wolf, which was born into the Beyem Seyo pack in 2023, may ultimately settle in as the resident female of the Yowlumni pack, CDFW gray wolf specialist Christopher DeTar told KRON4 News. The Yowlumni pack’s territory lies farther north in the Sequoia National Forest. However, wolf BEY03F
